Culture and Organizational Development Specialist | Engineer Extraordinaire

Dale Walling is a versatile senior leader with extensive experience in power plant engineering, maintenance, and operations.

As the former Director of Engineering Services at Luminant, he led a multi-disciplined team of engineering professionals who provided technical support to Luminant’s coal and natural gas-fired power generating fleet. His 41-year career in the power generation industry also included 28 years in various engineering leadership positions at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

Dale believes that “all business is the people business.”  Plain and simple, a leader’s role is to enable those around them to be successful. People come to work to do a good job. Leaders establish an environment that encourages others to be effective contributors to the organization. A leader is caring, compassionate, and connected to those they lead. Building and maintaining positive and productive relationships, both internal and external to the organization, are key elements to fostering those connections.

Dale has achieved notable accomplishments in project management, organizational design, process design and implementation, organizational transformation, human performance improvement, leadership development, and training. He is adept at collaborating with and engaging cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams in various initiatives, and recently led Luminant’s Reliability Optimization Initiative which resulted in significant improvements in key business metrics.

Dale received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) and is a registered professional engineer in Texas. He chaired the Generation Advisory Committee for the Maintenance Management and Technology Program for the industry-recognized Electric Power Research Institute and was an advisor to the Electrical Engineering Department for the University of Texas-Arlington.
